Keith R. McNeil, 73, of Crooked St. passed way February 4, 2010 at Alpine Nursing Home in Little Falls.
Born in Argyle, NY he was the son of the late Thomas and Emma Brewer McNeil. Keith grew up in Schenectady on Strong St. He was a '55 graduate at Nott Terrace High School. Keith enlisted with the Army and was stationed overseas in Japan from 55-57 and was a reservist until 61. He married Ruth Kusserow at Zion Lutheran Church on February 20, 1959. He was employed by Freihofer Baking Co. for over thirty years retiring as Superintendent. The McNeils lived in Scotia for a while before moving to Charlton 40 years ago. Keith enjoyed the outdoors and appreciated nature. He was often with his canine companion assistant on hunts as he was an avid woodsman and fisherman. Keith found great pleasure at his camp nestled in St. Regis Falls and for many years hunted with his brother-in-law. Keith was a volunteer for Catholic Charities and drove for the Meals on Wheels Program. He will be missed by the many lives he touched.
He was predeceased by his siblings Thomas, Arnold, Jeanette and Martha. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Ruth McNeil, his sons, Keith and his wife Debbie of Harlem ,GA and Brian McNeil of Schenectady; his cherished grandsons, Brennan and K.J. McNeil; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 11 AM Tuesday at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. (off Rt. 50). Calling hours Monday at Glenville Funeral Home from 6 - 8 PM. Interment with honors at Evergreen Memorial Park, Schenectady.
