Doris Kay Whissen (nee: Pearch), 66, after a long illness, died Monday February 15 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born in Utica NY, the daughter of Robert H. Pearch and Helen Buttenschon Pearch. Doris was a graduate of Burnt Hills - Ballston Lake high school. She married William J. Ross who at the time was in the Navy and she travelled and lived in various locations due to his naval assignments. For most of her life Doris lived in Orange Park, FL. She came to live in this area about eight and a half years ago. After the death of her father, Doris and her sister Janice did home care for their mother. Doris was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glenville.

Doris was much loved by her friends and family whom she made laugh with her humor, even in difficult times including her own illness. She loved tending to her garden and the birds that enjoyed the foliage, even tending to it and them on days when she wasn't feeling well.

Doris was predeceased by her father, her infant son Jeffery, and in 2008, her husband William. She is survived by her mother Helen of Charlton, her sons: Michael J. Ross ( Roxanne) of Middleburg, FL and Thomas R. Ross (Kelly) of Seneca, SC; her sisters: Janice Pearch of Charlton and Barbara Anderson of Spokane, WA.; and her brother Robert F. Pearch of Litchfield Park, AZ and Richard T. Pearch (Lori) of Nottingham, MD. Doris is also survived by her beloved granddaughter Jadyn Lee Ross as well as her loving Aunt Doris Hennings of New Hartford, NY.
A Celebration of Doris' life will be held at 2 pm Friday February 19 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 547 Saratoga Rd., Glenville.
