Born in Flushing, NY on August 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Jonas and Agnes Johansson Paulsen. He graduated from Flushing High School then served eight years in the Coast Guard, actively serving from '55-'57, and later as a stand-by reserve.
Paul met his wife, the former Barbara Chaffin while stationed at Watervliet and married on May 25, 1957. The couple moved to Alplaus where they raised their family. Paul was employed 30 years as a truck driver for Red Star Express, retiring in 2000.
He was a charter member of Parkside Covenant Church in Clifton Park. He enjoyed the companionship of his friends, especially the "Old men of the the Mountain" Breakfast club. Paul enjoyed traveling, shopping and listening to music. He loved animals and enjoyed the company of his feline friend, Oliver III.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Barbara Paulsen, his son, Carl G. Paulsen and his wife Melinda, of West Sand Lake; daughters, Kathleen L. LeRoy of Cobleskill and Donna Bold and her husband Mark, of Schuylerville. Paul leaves behind a sister, Alice Kemna (Dave) of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Parkside Covenant Church, 14 Jarose Place, Clifton Park, NY 12065 ( 7/10 mi. west of Northway off Grooms Rd.)
